Point your Toes

By Renee Burnam

When I was a little girl I dreamt of being a gymnast! I wanted to be just like Nadia. At the age of 5, my sweet mom put me in gymnastics classes so I could begin pursuing that dream. For 13 years I competed and I can still hear my coach saying “Point Your Toes! Point Your Toes! Oh my poor toes! LOL! Through the years of practice, mistakes and success in gymnastics, I bruised my toes, jammed my toes and even broke my toes! But through it ALL my coach continued to remind me to “Point My Toes!” “Point them even when it hurts to point them,” he would say! Well, my days of being a gymnast are long over but on occasion the pain of bruised, jammed and broken toes are not. As I have walked with Christ, my life coach, He continuously reminds me to “Point My Toes at HIM!” Point them when they are bruised (egos, sin, mistakes). Point them when they are jammed (relationships, pride, selfishness, anger). Point them when they are broken (loss of loved ones). Point them at Him Always! So, I keep my toes pointed directly at Him, my Coach, my Lord, my Savior, with whom these toes will be renewed and one day dance on streets of gold…..with Him!

“Whatever the challenge, whatever the test, what ever you’re striving for, give it your best!” unknown

Psalm 28:7 (NIV)
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
Colossians 3 (NIV)

2Set your minds (point your toes), on things above not on earthly things.

Sweet feet
These are some of the sweetest feet I have ever met. They belong to my daughter. They are tiny and delicate, the perfect portrait of a little girl. She will tell you they are stinky, but I don’t think so, no amount of smell could ever make these feet stinky. They are feet that walked into Kindergarten by themselves like a big girl, and feet that will spend many a day in ballet shoes this Fall. They are the same feet that will also walk her into her first day of high school, and the same feet that will someday walk her down the aisle to meet the man who swept her off of her feet. These feet are special to me. I pray for these little feet every day. That every day they will lead her closer and closer to God, and that they are feet that never have to walk alone unless they want to. I pray for these sweet feet to have endless adventures in the green green grass and always be happy even in un-cute shoes, LOL! If these feet could talk, I hope they would say we are happy and free, we love to dance and play, and we will run after our Savior to the end of our days! I love you sweet little baby girl feet, may God bless you always.

Crazy Ideas!!! Toes that Talk!

Crazy ideas! Yes, I come up with some crazy ideas! But standing in the bathroom this morning, drying my hair, I peered down at my toes. My mind wandering as it usually does, I sat there thinking about what someone might think about me if the only saw my toes. Would the blue sparkly polish make them think I was 16, would the chip in the polish on the big toe make them think I'm lazy, would they know the calluses on the sides are from my ballet dancing years, or would they think I was a runner? Feet can say an awful lot about us, for the good or the bad! But, I beleive there is more to the story. So, my crazy ideas comes to life, what would my feet say if they could talk? Would they tell you about the times they ran barefoot through the grass, or the times they got cooped up in high heeled shoes all day, or the time they squished in the sand at the beach, or even the time they graced the bottom of a dancefloor, or the time they were scarred and wanted to run away. Yes, feet have many many stories to tell. And this is their time to shine!

My Mission: Photograph as many amazing women's and girl's feet as will let me, and let them tell the story their feet would tell if they could talk. Completely anonymous, unless you can identify them by thier feet that is. No names, no faces, just feet, toes, and a story. Stay tuned, this should be fun!

I have a few people in mind already, but if you want to participate, shoot me an email and I'll be glad to photograph and document those sweet little toes of yours!
